The work of the Adelaide Auto-ID Lab is sponsored by the government and industrial contributions and is partially funded by EPCglobal via Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Additional revenue is generated through education and training programmes.

The laboratory has also established an industry network called Australasian Adoption Research Initiative (AARI). An application form can be downloaded from here.

RFID Automation a business unit of the Auto-ID Lab, Adelaide is used to undertake commerical contract research for Australasian Industries, the proceeds of which go back into the Auto-ID Lab Adelaide.
